Character Information
*Character Name: Smaug
*Character Canon: The Hobbit (movie-verse)
*Age: Over two centuries old.
*Race: Dragon
*Timeline/Pull Point: After Bilbo and the dwarves attempted to destroy him by burning him alive with molten gold. When that didn't work, Smaug grew enraged by their attempt and flew off to get revenge on Laketown nearby.

*History: Here!

*Personality:

Smaug has been alive for a very long time, due to his selfishness, greed, and cunning. The first two traits could be seen as positive traits. He looks out for himself and does not care whoever happens to get under foot or even fire as a result of his anger. His greed helps him as well, thirsting for gold and riches, and also destroying anyone who poses as a threat to his 'target'. His intelligence comes into play when he talks to his opponents, which is explained down below. In the film, the dwarves expressed how cunning Smaug is. While they fled within the kingdom to hide away from Smaug, he was still able to travel through the large corridors with ease, despite his size. He knows how to carry his weight.

The dragon is very full of himself and loves praise. Instead of killing Bilbo Baggins, when he first trespassed into his lair, he listened to Bilbo. The hobbit praised the dragon, commenting on Smaug's impression on him, as well as how big he was, Bilbo told him that Smaug had 'no equal'. Smaug drank it all in. If anything, he was amused, seeing a small being praise him like that. Alas, his ego can also be his downfall. If he's distracted for too long, he could possibly be tricked, which he was within the second film. Bilbo Baggins' quick tongue and his ring had helped him escape from the dragon upon meeting him the first time. He can become very irritated if he is insulted. He was called 'fat' and a 'worm' by Thorin, the dwarf king who was fighting to take back his kingdom. Smaug became visibly angered by such names.

Like most dragons, within their lore, Smaug is fascinated by treasure, and he loves it. Be it gold, jewelry, relics, coins -- he'll take it. Within the first film, it was said that the dragon had taken over the dwarf kingdom of Dale, located within the Lonely Mountain. Upon taking it over and destroying the entire kingdom and it's inhabitants, Smaug took refuge within the treasure room. He literally laid within the mountain of gold coins within it, concealing his body.

There is a reason for this, however. While he lived within the treasure room, the gold coins embedded themselves into his scales. This is because his belly is vulnerable and soft. Not only is his stomach vulnerable, but under his left wing, he has a weak spot within his scales. Most of the time, he can be seen crawling across the ground, keeping his stomach safe from any potential harm.

Smaug usually draws his opponent's attention away from that vulnerability with his fierce demeanor and imposing size. But with that demeanor, he tends to charm his opponents, or prey, into a confused false sense of calm. He is fearless and will take on anyone in a fight. This is apparent in his attack on the dwarf kingdom.

There is something to also note about Smaug's greed for treasure. Near the end of the second film, Smaug is tricked by the dwarves with a large sculpture made of gold. When it was revealed from it's large stone casing, which was just as tall as Smaug himself, he had been caught in awe. His mouth was ajar and his eyes were wide in a mesmerized trance. His wings were posed to attack, but at the sight of all that gold in one place, his wings lowered and his entire body relaxed. This left his defenses down. The gold itself was not set completely, and it reverted bak to liquid form. Smaug was caught off guard by it and was engulfed by the molten gold. Luckily, with his tough hide, he was able to pull himself out of the thick substance and shake it off.

Right after this moment, he was enraged, and vowed to destroy Laketown. This is the canon point in which I wish to take him, which is at the very end of the second movie of the Hobbit trilogy.

*Powers/Abilities:

Cunning/intelligence:
For how old he is, he is very experienced, especially when it comes to fighting. He knows how to carry himself through narrow passages, using his snake-like movements to travel through narrow passages.

Fire, Flight, Teeth and Claws - Innate abilites:
Being a fire-drake, Smaug has the ability to breathe fire. If need be, I can tone down his fire so it isn't so life threatening, especially towards non-cybertronian races. He can produce a lot of fire. When he does use this ability, you will know when it's coming. His chest glows bright as the fire builds up within it, and he lets it out.

Not only that, but he has powerful claws, teeth, and wings. He describes his teeth like swords, his claws like spears, and his wings like a hurricane. With his large size, these innate features are to be contested with caution.

Scales on his body, sans his belly:
In his universe, the only weapon that can pierce his tough hide/scales is a black arrow, which is specially crafted. However, being in a new setting, and a new planet over all, I'm sure something besides a black arrow can penetrate his armor like skin. Mostly, weapons such as swords, spears, or anything within the medieval times, won't be able to harm his scales. But things like space-metal from cybertronians, lasers, and whatever else they can throw at him, within reason? I'm pretty sure they can penetrate his skin easily. Anything from an 'older world' will have little to no affect on the dragon.

If you'd like for me to revise that, I'll be more than willing to!

*Inventory:

The only things he will have on his being are the gold coins embedded in his scales, along his body. But most of them can be seen in his stomach scales.

*Starting Polarity: No preference! I trust your judgement.

If AU, how does your character differ from canon?: N/A

*First Person Sample:

[Upon the alter of the temple, something large lays on it. Something far too big even for the alter. The creature breathes softly as he sleeps. Upon closer inspection, one could see that he has coins embedded into his scales, glittering within the dimly lit room.

Acolytes approach the large creature, but his eyes snap open, bright and yellow. Instantly, he sees that he is not in Dale, nor Laketown. Somewhere else entirely. He snarls and moves to stand on all fours, a few coins being jostled from their place.

He whips his large tail at the drones, knocking them over as they try to explain themselves. Smaug flinches at the sight of something floating beside him. Unknown to him, it's his communication device. He snaps at it, growling loudly.]

You! Flying metal box, what is the meaning of this? [His voice booms, his front paw slamming into the nearest Acolyte.]

This place is made of metal, and these beings... they are not men in armor. [He lifts one of the lifeless drones up with two claws, squinting at it with his slit pupils.]

They do not bleed red. They are... walking pieces of armor. [He drops the drone carelessly as he looks back at the box. His head does snap to the side as he sees one of the drones twitching to life. But slams his front paw down, crushing it's skull. He addresses the box again.]

Tell me floating box. Were these the beings responsible for my kidnapping? [He leans in closer, but device floats back a little more, to get some space between them.]

Or is there someone else I need to speak to about all of this? I would love to have a conversation with them. Was this the work of a wizard? Magic?

[As he speaks, his chest glows a bright orange color.]

Tell me! [Smaug roars at the camera, but the feed soon cuts out.]

*Third Person Sample:

Once Smaug was able to make his way out of the temple, he stood at it's entrance, looking up at the rip across the sky. A low growl rumbled in his throat as he stepped a few paces out of the temple's entrance, looking around. Everything seemed to be made of metal. The ground was the only bit of dirt he could possibly see. He shook his shoulder, trying to recollect his thoughts.

Just to think, he was flying across the sky, to take his frustration out on Laketown. And then he suddenly woke up here. Out of no where. He didn't understand how exactly he got here, beng airborne, to, all of a sudden, in a different universe all together.

He stood on hid hind legs, stretching his wings a little before his eyes do a double take on his right shoulder. His upper lip twitched, his eyes narrowing. On his shoulder was a mark, his glyph.

"No," he hissed as he lowered his wings to stand on all fours again. "No! I'm... branded! Like some kind of livestock!" He shouted, to no one in particular, his tail flicking behind him angrily.

"I will not stand for this! I belong to no one! I will not be someone's cattle. I am my own being. And I will do as I please!"

The dragon threw his head to the sky. "Do you hear me, oh mighty First Forged?! I will not belong to you like some pet! I will not stand for this!" His voice roared out across his surroundings, a good deal of distance.

But only his faint echo replied, which caused him to roar out in anger.

Final Notes: I do have some size references if you're curious. Also, if you'd like for him to be sized down, I'll understand! Also if you'd like for me to make any revisions on his powers, I'm totally fine with that too.

Here and here are some size references.

Like I said, if you would like him sized down, I'm more than happy to do so! Thanks!
